Great thanks to Peter!!!!   … for helping me post the studio and painting images!  Please see the “Elephant Parade” button at the top of the home page (here on my website). Once you click the button, either a “drop down” will appear and click the studio button/ link….or on the right side of the page, look at the index and click “Elephant Parade” and then click the studio button.    I’ll be adding these here daily…which will hopefully make all of a part of this! I certainly could not be here without you!  Thank you!

Good Morning from London!!

mitch - Sunday, 13 December 2009 08:02

I hope all of you are well, and enjoying your weekend!!!  I have arrived in London, after an almost smooth flight,…….   (4 hours of bumps), I arrived ready for work!   My cousin Peter, picked me up, and we found the studio after a few minutes of driving through London.  London is decorated for Christmas, and looks great!

The studio is a donated retail shop in a shopping mall in South London, in a section named Elephant & Castle!  The studio space has 8 elephants for painting, mine ,when we arrived, was the only unpainted.

Peter then dropped me off, and I started into work.  I met two other Artists, Ellen & Patricia, both very nice and amazing designs on their elephants!  So…I painted from 3pm to 7pm when Peter returned.

There were several people stopping by to watch the three of us painting, and a few “interesting ” visitors.  Everyone who stops, reads the information provided, and seems excited about the upcoming event.

Back to the “Flat”, a pint of London’s Pride Ale, Pasta Dinner, shower and off to bed.  Not bad days work for being up for 46 hours…a good way to get things done!

Up now this morning, with a good cup of coffee, and planning the day at the studio.  Best to all of you!

Day of Departure

This is the first of hopefully a string of blogs about my trip to London for the Elephant Parade London 2010. This initial phase of the Exhibit is the painting portion of the project. I am geared up to start painting and glad the flight will have movies as I will probably not sleep much. I am ready to create, design and get to the idea in my mind of how I want this to look! I am bringing my camera and plan on taking several hundred photos of the painting process over the next 10 days! Gotta Run! More Soon!

Welcome New Visitors!

mitch - Thursday, 10 December 2009 05:17

I would like to take moment to say welcome to my website! There have been several new looks in the three years it has been up and running, and right now is no exception. My website is now blog which allows me to update it daily if needed as news and progress develops. In the past six months we have been blessed with a tremendous amount of projects, shows and works in progress.

I wanted to leave some photos up of the old look, so that you the viewer might have a preview of what is to come. Here is what will be New or updated in Janaury 2010: New Front Page, Online Store (newer format than the old one), Links to Blogs, Facebook, and Twitter, schedule and listing of shows, donation page & button, work in progress information , and contact page.

The website will be streamlined, and a few things trimmed, to better help you navigate through the site. And my favorite part the new map of where my art now resides. I like this part as it makes the art more personal and recognizes the owners: which city they live in, and what they own. It also shows other visitors where my Art has been seen, and I feel makes this much more personal. Truly I want to honor each of my clients in a way I think is appropriate.

Looking forward to sharing the latest news with you!

Preparing for London

mitch - Saturday, 5 December 2009 07:58

I have six days to get ready for London…which is more than enough to pack my clothes, brushes, etc. But I am deep in thought about the potential of this trip. This is my first International Art Show, which is Huge for me and my family. We are very excited and humbled to be a part of such a great cause. I have so many thoughts of who will see my work, who will walk right by, who will make it a daily visit for the 90 days it’s installed, who will have missed it,and who might dismiss it because of where I am from. I hope, like with all my work, it speaks to people, in a positive way, and people for a few moments are drawn into the work, to escape or supplement their day. I offer brush strokes of paint which I hope will align with the ideas in my head….which can take much longer than the 7 days I have to paint. So in the next six days, I’ll be sketching, planning and assessing.

I hope you liked this post, as I am trying to reach my audience with intelligent words, contrasted to the snippets of information I have been sending.

If you have you donated, thank you…you have made our lives here at home much easier. If you have yet to donate, please consider where I am in my career of Art, and how worthy of a cause the Elephant Parade is!

Have a good evening, or day or morning…. I sometimes forget about the time zones! :)
