Headed Back to London!

mitch - Tuesday, 2 March 2010 09:25

As we start into March, I am getting excited about the upcoming events for the Elephant Parade in London! This month I will return to London for a kick off event of the Elephant Parade! I am looking forward to seeing my new friends and fellow artists!

A few of the exciting things going on within the Elephant Parade is the miniatures being made, and a book being created featuring all of the Artists and Designers!  I am looking forward to seeing these in the store in London! The opportunities are in the works for the Artists, the Sponsors, and future owners of these awesome works of Art…I can tell you we are excited how much momentum has already begun!

Recognized by Gainesville City School System, Gainesville Georgia

mitch - Tuesday, 19 January 2010 08:59

Tonight, at the Gainesville City School Board Meeting several wonderful teachers and faculty were recognized for their efforts, commitments, and achievements.  I too was recognized for my place and confirmation as an Artist in the Elephant Parade London 2010.  As one of seven Americans (the least known of the group): Designers:Diane von Furstenburg, Andrea Ferretti, Tommy Hilfiger, Bruce Weber, Issac Mizrahi, Musician: Alice Cooper, and myself: Art Teacher, budding Professional Artist.  After an introduction I explained to the audience of my acceptance, trip to London in December, and the great cause this Exhibit is for: saving and promoting the Asian Elephant from extinction.  Elephant Family (www.elephantfamily.org) is at the top of this well organized assembly of wheels and cogs.

I appreciated my family being there to hear me talk about this cause, and for the efforts I did to be acknowledged.  I am truly humbled by the willingness so many people have taken interest in my place in this worthwhile cause.

Please contact me if you would like more information about what I am doing for the Elephant Parade London 2010, and how close we are to reaching our financial goals!

MLK DAY, January, 18 2010

mitch - Monday, 18 January 2010 08:29

I have had the opportunity to live in forty-two (42) separate places in my life, and visit many areas, cities and towns around each place lived.  One common theme in the places I have lived was meeting and making new friends.  I have had friendships with people from all walks of life, all income levels, all skin colors, several religions, and a near infinite number of life philosophies from the people I have encountered.   Much of the common theme is people looking to improve their life however that may be.  Quality of life is a common theme, and exercised daily, much of the same way in all these friends.

I teach now, and have an equally diverse student population, which I keenly try to reach, inspire, encourage and promote in my classes.  Most of my days are productive, but with people inconsistency is natural…even in teachers :)

I would like to think people who are here on my website are looking for artwork, ideas, or keeping tabs on my progress as a budding professional artist.  I also hope viewers will have a sense of who I am through my diverse styles of Art and Materials/ Mediums used.

I submit to everyone who reads this post to look at the philosophy Dr. Martin Luther King achieved.  I appreciate and applaud the actions he achieved and how he did it.  I also look to the future with my intentions of providing a positive contribution to society.

One thing I have seen in my limited experience is most people are doing the best they can with what they have (mentally, physically, monetarily..etc.) I also see people being kind to each other and look past boundaries of class and color.  I offer for all of us to promote this way of life, of seeking to improve our lives, the people we encounter, and the places we live.

Best to everyone,   Mitch
